Zuora is seeking a Developer Documentation Writer in our Beijing office. We are looking for a writer with the mind of a developer. You enjoy learning APIs, providing feedback to API developers, and participating in the wider developer and partner community. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in getting inside the head of a typical developer, and will be passionate about turning complex ideas into simple instructions and examples.
You should have great technical skills, a strong desire to create API documentation and examples using the latest tools, and the ability to experiment and challenge the status quo. Zuora values its developer community; you will empower Zuora developers and partners by creating API documentation that makes our software easy to learn and implement via demonstrations of best practices and common use cases.
Research, write, and maintain developer documentation.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to create developer documentation based on best practices and use cases for external developers/partners.
Help to build and contribute to the Developer User Group in the Zuora Community platform.
Become an expert on the Zuora application from both a technical and a business standpoint.
Ability to work independently and manage your own projects while fostering team relationships.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with product managers, program managers, developers, QA engineers, and other technical writers.
Credentials to legally work in China. The position is located in Beijing.
3+ years of technical writing experience. We will also consider related experience, such as experience as a technical editor, QA engineer, or developer with writing experience.
Proven ability to write documentation for developers.
Excellent spoken and written English. All of our documentation is written in English.
Experience writing REST API documentation and use case based documentation.
Strong interest in technology and a willingness to learn. You will learn something new every day!
Previous use of the following technologies: REST APIs, cURL/Postman, SQL, JSON/XML, and a programming language or the ability to understand code examples.
Business knowledge, such as knowledge of billing, payments, finance, or accounting.
Enjoys creating programs and/or apps and has used GitHub.
Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and in a multicultural environment.
Familiarity with documentation generation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Javadoc/Pydoc, or others.
Knowledge of Confluence and Jira, or similar tools.
Participates on Q&A sites such as StackOverflow.
